Contract of Vietnamese Midfield Star at French Club Terminated Ahead of Schedule

Michele Donato Fersini, who oversees Quang Hai’s football ventures in France, recently revealed that he has been in talks with Pau FC for several weeks. Fersini personally reached out to the club to request the release of Quang Hai once the current Ligue 2 season concludes.

“On June 1st, I had the opportunity to meet directly with President Bernard Laporte-Fray, and following that meeting, on June 3rd, we were able to reach a mutually beneficial agreement regarding Quang Hai’s departure from Pau FC. The agreement entails his departure happening on June 30, 2023, which is one year earlier than what was originally stipulated in the contract,” Fersini shared in a Vietnamese post on his personal Facebook account.

“We are extremely grateful to Pau FC for giving Quang Hai the opportunity to come to France and be a part of Ligue 2.

Quang Hai made a significant move in his career when he joined Pau FC on a two-year contract in June 2022. Prior to this, he had dedicated 16 years to Hanoi FC, where he had developed his skills and established himself as a professional footballer. This marked a new chapter for Quang Hai as he embarked on a new journey with Pau FC.

Unfortunately, Quang Hai was not given the opportunity to showcase his exceptional football skills during his time in France.

The 26-year-old midfielder had a limited playing time during the season, appearing in only 11 out of Pau FC’s 21 matches in Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France. Despite the limited opportunities, he managed to find the back of the net once.

Since February, Quang Hai has seen minimal involvement in Pau FC’s plans.

His most recent appearance for the first team came in the last 10 minutes of a match against Laval on February 18 in Ligue 2. Unfortunately, Pau FC suffered a 0-1 loss in that game.

The midfielder continued his journey by contributing to seven matches for Pau FC’s reserve team in National 3, which is the fifth division of French football. During this time, he played a total of 579 minutes.

Quang Hai is set to refocus on the Vietnamese national team as they get ready for two upcoming friendly matches against Hong Kong on June 15 and Syria on June 20.

Notably, this is the first time that Quang Hai has had the opportunity to work directly with the new coach, Philippe Troussier, since Troussier’s appointment in February.

While the mid-season transfer market for the Vietnamese top-tier 2023 V-League 1 is now open, there have been no indications of any clubs expressing interest in acquiring the services of Quang Hai.

In his six seasons with Hanoi FC, Quang Hai has been a standout player. He has played in a total of 126 matches, showing his consistency and dedication to the team. Not only has he been a key player on the field, but he has also contributed significantly in terms of goals, scoring an impressive 35 goals. His contribution to the team has been recognized and rewarded, as he has won every domestic title and the prestigious Vietnam Golden Ball award in 2018. Quang Hai’s achievements highlight his talent and impact on the team, making him a valuable player for Hanoi FC.

The Vietnamese club offered Hai a new contract, however, he remained resolute in his aspiration to play football overseas.

He is part of Vietnam’s current group of talented young players, known as the ‘golden generation,’ who are highly respected.

None of this current generation, however, have been able to truly excel on the international stage.
